American Soprano, Becky Morrison, of Springfield, Missouri is at home on the stage performing opera, oratorio, musical theater or recitals. Her professional début came under the auspices’ of the Artist Presentation Society of St. Louis, Missouri when she won the 50th Annual Artist Award and was presented in recital. Morrison’s solo appearances include presentations with the Jerusalem, Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra, the Brentwood and Town & Country Symphonies of St. Louis and the Fort Worth Oratorio Orchestra. Becky’s opera role’s include Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Mrs. Gobineau in The Medium, Elektra in Idomeneo, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Miss Todd in Old Maid and the Thief, the Witch in MacBeth and Gertrud in Hansel and Gretel. Mrs. Morrison has sung the soprano solos in Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Brahams’ Requiem, Faure’s Requiem and Mozart’s Coronation Mass among others. Her Musical Theater roles include: Fairy Godmother in Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Aunt Nettie in Carousel, Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music and Anna in The King and I.
Growing from her love to make beautiful music with others, Mrs. Morrison stepped from the spotlight to behind the podium for the first time in 2001 to conduct the Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta, The Mikado for the Cool Kids Opera Camp hosted by the Cimarron Opera Company. Since that time she has been conductor and musical director for many shows including: Bye, Bye Birdie, Into the Woods, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Mulan, Pom Pom Zombies, Lagooned and Annie.
